Hari Delapan: Target Jangka Pendek

Bulan ini...apa ya goal gw bulan ini?

Sebentar, gw butuh 5 menit untuk mikir.

Baiklah, inilah target jangka pendek gw untuk bulan ini:

Ketemu dan ngomong sama orang-orang Goethe, CCF, Erasmus, IIC, dkk dll soal festival film.

Kenapa?

Ya karena gw lagi ngurusin festival film buat Pekan Raya Perfilma tahun ini. Makanya gw butuh banget ketemu dan ngomong langsung sama mereka, biar dapat kepastian kalo mereka mau ngasih film-filmnya di-screening pas PRP.

Kayaknya itu aja.

MENGEJUTKAN!

Selama ini banyak orang yang menjagokan The Social Network, namun ternyata The King's Speech lah yang menyabet nominasi terbanyak. Salah satu poin dimana The King's Speech unggul adalah dari kualitas pemain, dimana film ini sendiri telah memberikan 3 pemainnya nominasi Oscar untuk Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor, dan Best Actress.

Sementara itu True Grit kembali memperlihatkan kejeniusan Coen bersaudara dengan memperoleh 10 nominasi, baru kemudian diikuti oleh The Social Network.

Inception sendiri (film favorit gw) secara mengejutkan mendapatkan porsi yang lumayan di Oscar tahun ini dengan 8 nominasi.

Salah satu faktor yang mengejutkan adalah adanya 10 buah film yang masuk dalam nominasi Best Picture, sama seperti tahun lalu. Padalah era 10-film-nominasi itu berakhir pada tahun 1943 dan jumlah nominasi Best Picture terbanyak adalah tahun 1935 dengan total 12 film!

Menurut gw Toy Story 3 luar biasa sampai bisa masuk nominasi Best Picture. Film animasi terakhir yang masuk nominasi Best Picture adalah Beauty and the Beast tahun 1991.

Let me tell you something about this woman.

Don't worry, she's not my mother.

I knew her since I was a child.

I lived with her.

At first I liked her a lot.

But as I grow up, I turned to hate her.

What distrubed my memory the most, is as long as I could remember, she read the Bible everyday.

But never once she really applied what she reads on the good book.

She hurt my heart with only her words.

She used to made my cry every night, so maybe you could imagine now how I hate her.

One should forgive, but one should never forget.

I never forget. I never really have the intention to be cold with her, but I guess my heart works more than I know it could.

It somehow prevents me to be kind to her.

My heart hurts deeper than I knew...

All because of her.

So yeah, I would never forget what she's done to me.

I'd never forgive her.

I hate her.

Hari Dua: Di Balik Nama Blog Saya

Curious Vagabond

Kalau diterjemahkan secara mudah, artinya bisa jadi: perantau yang kepo.

Mungkin kata vagabond agak rancu dan jarang terdengar, but personally I like the word.

Pertama kali gw dengar kata ini adalah sekitar tahun 1996-an, saat gw nonton The Lion King.

This is the first animated movie, and maybe the first movie also that I've ever watched.

This movie successfully made me cry, in the scene where Mufasa lying dead and Simba called his name in despair.

Since I loved the movie, I also loved the songs. My most favorite song of course Can You Feel The Love Tonight? by Sir Elton John.

In the song's lyric, I found this vagabond word.

And can you feel the love tonight?

It is where we are

It's enough for this wide-eyed wanderer

That we got this far

And can you feel the love tonight?

How it's laid to rest?

It's enought to make kings and vagabonds

Believe the very best

The way Sir Elton John sung the word vagabond really caught my ears.

So since then, I really loved the word.

Meanwhile, according to Wikipedia, vagabond is:

an itinerant person. The word is derived from the Latin adjective vagabundus, “inclined to wander”, from the verb vagor, “wander”. It does not denote a member of a nomadic people, but rather an individual who follows a wandering lifestyle within a sedentary society. Such people may be called drifters, tramps, or rogues. A vagabond is characterized by almost continuous traveling, lacking a fixed home, temporary abode, or permanent residence. Vagabonds are not bums, as bums are not known for traveling, preferring to stay in one location.

Selama 19 tahun 9 bulan ini, gw sudah hidup berpindah-pindah.

Lahir di Manado saat bokap lagi kerja di sana.

Umur 2 bulan gw kembali ke Makassar dan tinggal di sana sampai lulus SD.

Tiga tahun mengasah otak di SMP Santa Maria Jakarta, gw sudah pindah rumah 2 kali.

Masuk SMA, gw pindah lagi ke BSD. Belajar di SMA Santa Ursula BSD.

Kuliah, gw di UI. Tinggal di sebuah kosan 4x4 meter di Depok.

Gw tidak pernah merasakan menjadi 'tuan rumah', yaitu mereka yang merasakan saat anak baru masuk ke sekolahnya. Gw selalu menjadi si anak baru. Mulai lagi dari awal. Beradaptasi dengan lingkungan baru.

Mencari teman baru.

Membuka diri untuk kesekian kalinya.

Selalu mencari jati diri.

Nah,

Kata curious sendiri artinya:

is an emotion related to natural inquisitive behavior such as exploration, investigation, and learning, evident by observation in human and many animal species. The term can also be used to denote the behavior itself being caused by the emotion of curiosity. As this emotion represents a drive to know new things, curiosity is the fuel of science and all other disciplines of human study.

Intinya: rasa ingin tahu atau penasaran. Kalo dosisnya kebanyakan, dikenal juga dengan kata modern: kepo.

Gw adalah orang yang sangat penasaran. Gw rasanya ingin tahu semuanya, gw ingin semua hal ada penjelasannya, terserah logis atau tidak. Karana semua yang terjadi dan semua tindakan yang diambil pasti ada alasannya.

Sesuatu yang dinamakan insting pun merupakan sebuah alasan, entah itu bisa dijelaskan dengan ilmu past ataupun sekedar alasan ketuhanan.

Nah, dari dua kata itulah asal mula nama blog ini.

Semua orang, tidak terkecuali gw, adalah seorang pengembara dalam hidup ini. Kita tidak tinggal pada satu tempat pasti, karena setiap hari kita melakukan perjalanan. Entah itu adalah perjalanan yang dilakukan saat kaki kita memijak bumi, ataupun saat kaki kita memijak mimpi dan imajinasi.

Pikiran kita tidak pernah diam, karena itulah kita semua adalah pengembara dalam hidup kita masing-masing.

Hari Satu: Foto dan 15 Hal Tentang Saya

1. I'm a fan of Netherland Football team. Gw pertama kali nonton Piala Dunia adalah tahun....2002 kalo ga salah. Bokap gw memperkenalkan semua tim-tim negara dengan keunggulannya, tapi gw sama sekali ga tertarik sama si juara umum Brazil ato Italia, malah gw langsung tertarik sama Belanda, muhehehe...

2. Gw adalah orang Ambon-Tionghoa-Makassar-Belanda-(dan mungkin sedikit) Arab. Mungkin lain kali orang tanya 'kamu orang apa?' lebih baik gw jawab: gw orang Indonesia.

3. Gw adalah definisi mutlak dari yang namanya random. Mood gw random, sifat gw random, pikiran gw random. Gw jarang memiliki satu kebiasaan pasti.

4. I'm pretty sure that I'm a very creative person. Gw punya banyak sekali ide-ide di kepala gw, dari yang waras sampe yang sangat absurd. Gw juga jarang mengalami kebuntuan dan biasanya bisa selalu ngasih ide baru *ciye gw...*

5. I like history and language. Gw suka beli dan baca buku-buku sejarah, sangat tertarik belajar bahasa, dari Jerman sampai Aramaic.

6. I'm a collector. Apapun gw koleksi. Paling sering sih benda-benda kecil dan sendok. Gw punya berjenis-jenis sendok, juga kartu hotel yang jumlahnya ternyata sudah 90-an, hehehehe...

7. I consider myself as an entertainer. I actually like to sing, dance, and talk in front of many people. And lately, I don't hesitate to show it to everybody.

8. Waktu SD gw pernah membuat sebuah komik super jelek dan cerpen--yang kalo gw baca lagi sepertinya agak--labil. Komiknya gw kasih judul The Great Octopus, digambar di kertas buku tulis standar, dengan pulpen Hi-Tech 0.4 hitam. Tapi dua karya aneh itulah yang membuat gw lolos masuk SMP Santa Maria.

9. I laughed easily. Semua hal bisa terlihat lucu bagi gw, dan jenis-jenis ketawa gw juga beragam.

10. Pas SD kelas 2, gw ga punya temen cewek, temen gw cowok semua. Pas SMP kelas 1, gw cuma punya satu temen cewek, hahahahahah...

11. Gw bisa nulis aksara Arab gundul *ini hal menarik bukan sih?*

12. Gw lebih suka ke Gramedia, Kinokuniya, Ace Hardware, dan toko aksesoris dari pada ke gerai baju. Susah nyari ukuran baju gw, jadi gw males. Lebih baik gw nyari lemari baju di Ace Hardware.

13. I considered this number as my lucky number. I'm planning of having this number tattooed on my back.

14. Gw suka makan adonan mentah. Adonan roti mentah, pancake mentah, dan yang paling enak: adonan bolu gulung mentah bikinan almarhum oma gw.

15. Saat gw berimajinasi gw ada dalam satu cerita, gw tidak merepresentasikan diri gw dalam satu karakter yang sudah ada, tapi gw menambahkan karakter diri gw dalam cerita itu. A twist in the story.

My semester holiday started at 17th December, and will have its end at 6th February.

A long time, eh?

And guess who I met along this holiday!

Myself.

Yes.

Having a long vacation accidentally faced me with my own self.

Giving me a lot of time to confront her, and to know her better.

To finally understand her, and to accept her.

Yesterday night, I eventually came to the lowest point of my emotion.

I cried silently in the night, while praying to God AND at the same time being so sad to remember that yesterday was the 11th month since my grandma, Oti, left me.

Why oh why I cried?

1. I think I've messed up my life. One lazy decision in the past forced me to pay the cause today.

2. I lose my self confident. Everytime I see other people, I see that they are perfect in any way. They have everything they wanted, and they seemed really happy. The have the perfect body, they're beautiful, etc.

3. I'm getting tired studying law. I don't know what I have to do in the future, I don't know how to start my career, and I think I only will ended up dissapointing my mother. Above all, she is perfect. She's smart, dilligent, hard worker, etc.

4. I'm afraid that I will never fulfill my dream.

5. I miss my grandma.

So I cried.

Real hard.

I try to find the answers of all that to God, and now...

I guess He's on the way of answering it.

So please, God.

I need the answers...like...now.

The Tube Series

So this is Friday the seventh, the seventh day of 2011.

I litterally have nothing to do, so I open this blog and do something I really love:

making a list.

And since there was a new series running on HBO, I'm gonna make a short list of my favorite all time TV series.

Here it goes:

1. The Tudors

Story about the life of king Henry VIII of England, whom famous for his 6 wives and being the cause for England's 'break-up' with the Roman Catholic church.

Personally I think this series is amazing, and Jonathar Rhys-Meyers played the complex character of Henry the VIII perfectly.

It's actually a good way of learning history without making you bored: cast a bunch of sexy and good looking actors, make a good plot, add a lot of explicit sex scenes, and a British accent.

Who knew being a king could be so fun? Marry a woman, beheaded her on the next day, marry another woman, burn the Pope's hat...beheaded another woman....beheaded many people...

Cool.

2. True Blood

One word for the series: SEXY!

I thought that the movie Dracula is one great original story. Then came Kate Beckinsale in Underworld, made vampire looked fierce and kick-ass.

Then along came Twilight, made vampire looked cheap and 'sinetronish'.

Then finally, True Blood came and made vampire looked sexy and lustful.

The producer alone said, that when he heard the word vampire, all he had in mind is an unmistakeably sexy creatures that defines beauty, danger, and sex at the same time.

Nice.

I mean, just look at the poster.

3. CSI: NY

Beside the good looking cast and bizzare cases (or crime scene), you could actually learn a lot of things from this series, from chemistry to gadgets.

And it sets in New York, babe!

No need to argue.

4. How I Met Your Mother

On of the American series that ACTUALLY funny since the Cosby Show. Full stop.

Well it tells the story of Ted Mosby and his friend. The title actually pointed to the series perspective (Ted), whom telling his children about his friend, and how he finally met their mother.

5. The Pacific

What if you have a chance to visit a beautiful tropical islands, but instead of sunbathing or surfing, you are doing a mass killing? Yeah, that's what this movie talks about.

Sets on the WW 2, it tells the story of three main character in their true experience of the war between the US and Japanese army in the Pacific islands,

What makes this series special was that the executive producers were Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks, who seemed to be addicted in war-movie since Saving Private Ryan.

This series has a very strong plot, sets, and it tell precisely how the main character forced-maturity through a horrifying war.

6. Ugly Betty

Colorful, fashionable, and originally funny series. It tells the story of Betty Suarez, a young ambitious woman who was far from perfect, who work in an elite fashion magazine.

I'll give you the question to help you love this series: when did the last time you watch a movie with a non-skinny main woman character?

Well, the original series' Betty was a lot uglier. Eeergh.

7. Rome

Sadly, this series only has two seasons, although personally I really like this series. The two short seasons made it rapidly faded from the viewers memory.

The story was about Julius Caesar, the king of the great Roman Empire, and how he lost his throne through the brutal murder of his own adopted son Brutus, and also the story after the murder of Caesar, include the famous love affair of Marc Antony and Cleopatra.

This is one of the series you should not watch with your parents. Along with The Tudors and True Blood.

Okay, so this is my short list for my favorite TV series. I still liked another series, like Nurse Jackie, Big Love, The Sopranos, and Cougar Town.

SELAMAT NATAL semuanya!!

SELAMAT TAHUN BARU 2011!!

Buat gw, tahun baru ini berarti:

1. Kesempatan untuk menjadi lebih baik, menjadi seseorang yang berbeda dalam arti baik, dan jadi lebih dewasa.

2. Satu tahun mendekati Piala Eropa, MUHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA!! HUP HOLLAND HUP!!

3. Memulai hitungan mundur dalam proses meninggalkan usia belasan. TAHUN INI SAYA DUA PULUH! Muah.

4. Mulai semester 4. Berarti gw udah setengah jalan kuliah.

5. Gw akan merayakan satu tahun meninggalnya oma gw. Hiks.

6. Gw mau mulai lagi menabung. Sejak beli handycam, tabungan gw entah kenapa terkuras cepat.

7. Gw akan lebih mandiri, dan lebih menghargai diri gw sendiri. Gw tidak mau lagi termakan segala perfeksionisme yang tidak akan pernah gw raih dan menjauhkan gw dari diri gw sendiri.

8. Gw akan lebih ambisius--ke arah yang baik tentu saja.
